Moreno Valley wins second award of excellence
for Amateur Softball Association tournament
The City of Moreno Valley has been selected as a 2001 California Parks and Recreation Society (CPRS) Award of Excellence winner in Recreation/Community Services for the American Softball Association National Girls’ 10 and Under Tournament. This is the second major award the City has received for the softball tournament, which took place last summer.
The City’s first award for the ASA tournament came from the Amateur Softball Association, in recognition of hosting a well-organized and highly rated tournament. City officials say this second award from CPRS is equally as special. “This is fantastic news,” said Moreno Valley Recreation Superintendent, Karen Reams. “We are thrilled to be getting this award. It shows, once again, that the hard work and dedication of everyone involved in the tournament really paid off,” she said.
The CPRS award will be presented during the 54th Annual California Pacific Southwest Recreation and Park Conference in Los Angeles on April 6, 2002. As an Award of Excellence Winner, Moreno Valley is automatically entered to compete for the “Creating Community Award of Distinction” which will be announced at the CPRS banquet.
