City wins financial reporting awardFor the second consecutive year, the City of Moreno Valley has received a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). The award covers the fiscal year 1998-99. The award is a significant accomplishment for a government and its management. GFOA established the award program to encourage all governments to prepare and publish an easily readable and understandable comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) covering all funds and financial transactions of the government during the fiscal year. "We're delighted to receive this award. The fact that GFOA has presented this honor to Moreno Valley for two consecutive years speaks highly of our financial management, our financial accountability and our desire for City finances to make sense to the taxpayers," said Finance Director Steve Chapman. The City's award-winning report was recognized for its ability to enhance reader's understanding of the information required for fair presentation of financial statements, efficient organization and adherence to generally accepted terminology and formatting conventions. The award, received in late September, will be presented to the City officially in November. The 1998-99 CAFR can be viewed at the City Clerk's Office, located at 14177 Frederick Street. The FY 2000-01 budget and the City Manager's Budget Message are available on the City's award winning web site |
