Library Introduces Program that Ships Books to Moreno Valley Homes
For immediate release: March 7, 2022
The City of Moreno Valley is pleased to introduce the California State Library’s Zip Books Program at all three Moreno Valley Public Library locations.
The innovative Zip Books Program provides Moreno Valley Public Library cardholders with speedy access to books that are not available in library collections. A patron requests a print book or audiobook, and the Library purchases it from Amazon. The book is then shipped directly to the patron’s home at no charge.
When finished, the patron returns it to any Moreno Valley Public Library branch in person, and the Library adds it to its permanent collection.
“The Zip Books program is yet another reason why the Moreno Valley Public Library is the City’s passport to adventure,” said Dr. Yxstian Gutierrez, Mayor of Moreno Valley. “Not only does this program help our Library patrons, but it also allows the Library’s already extensive collection to become more unified to the needs of the community.”
The Zip Books Program results from a partnership with the California State Library and California Library Services Act funds administered by the State Librarian.
To order a book from the Zip Books Program, please visit the Library’s website at moval.org/mv-library/zipbooks or call the Library’s Information Desk at 951.413.3880.
